Interview With Sarah Collins

The Discovery of a Tumour:

As Sarah recalls the events leading up to her diagnosis, she shares that she initially attributed her headaches during pregnancy to common pregnancy-related discomforts. Looking back, she now realizes that there were subtle signs of something amiss. One day, she experienced dizziness and unbalance during a gig, but it was brushed off as fatigue. However, just eight weeks after her daughter’s birth, Sarah had a frightening experience that changed everything. The room started flickering like an old movie, and she fell unconscious, leading to a traumatic discovery.

A Fight for Life:

After collapsing, Sarah was unconscious for several hours, leaving her family in distress. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumour. The magnitude of the tumour’s size shocked her—about the size of a Satsuma—and it had been pressing on a vital artery. The surgeon explained that if it hadn’t been discovered when it did, Sarah could have faced a much graver outcome. Grateful for her life, Sarah recognizes how fortunate she is to be here, cherishing each day with her family.

The Road to Recovery:

Despite the successful tumour removal, Sarah’s journey to recovery was not without challenges. She experienced seizures, which affected her confidence and made her nervous in social situations. Her brain needed time to heal, and she found solace in her music. Singing became a form of therapy, allowing her to escape reality and reconnect with her passion. It was a gradual process, but through perseverance and the support of her loved ones, Sarah began to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
