My first MRI was when I was being diagnosed with a brain tumour. In the first year of having regular scans, I hated the noise of the machine. It was like being at a building construction site, it made me very anxious. It was not until somebody in my Facebook Group told me, we can ask for some music to be played through the headphones that are provided. HALLELUJAH GOODBYE SCANXIETY.
So, depending on the time of the year you have your MRI, take your own music or ask for the radio to be played. Ask for some Classical music or whatever chills you out. I have had a number of scans in December and as it is one of my favourite times of the year, I ask the radiographer to play the Micheal Buble Christmas Songs.
So! if you are about to have your MRI this festive season, ask them to play some Christmas tunes into the headphones and turn the volume up! you can HUM your way through, but don’t start dancing as you have to stay still!
